Natural scenery of
rare beauty
The origins of the
Neptune Caves (karst formation) date back to prehistoric times. Traces,
belonging to the Neolithic, found in them, suggest that about 2 million years
have elapsed since its formation.
The Neptune Caves extend for about 4 km, but for safety
reasons, visitors can only access a part of them. The path inside the cave is
about 580 meters. The initial part of the cave is occupied by Lamarmora Lake,
extraordinarily clear waters.
Can be reached by sea,
through a boat service directly from Alghero port or or from Cala Dragunara.
Instead
by land along the famous Escala Cabirol
(656 steps) that runs down the side of the massif of Capo Caccia.
